Jalopnik’s Favorite SEMA Vehicle
2012 SEMA, the annual Las Vegas tradeshow highlighting the fantastic world of specialty automotive products, has been running all week. It’s a great place to see awesome conversions and interesting new cars.
It probably comes as a surprise as much to the editors of Jalopnik as it does to us, but the VW Vortex Beetle was the 2012 SEMA vehicle that made the biggest impression on them. It’s AWD and 500 Horsepower. A lot in a tiny, stylish package!

Superstorm Sandy has caused widespread destruction along the East Coast. We’ve now all seen photos of cars floating in flood water and mourned the grief and devastation this has caused millions of people. However, it’s also a good heads up for car shoppers now and in the future. Apart from the cars trapped by Sandy, thousands of cars are caught in floods across the country, and many of them will enter the secondary car market. Apart from doing your normal due diligence this Forbes article gives a lot of great advice about specifically avoiding flooded vehicles, which is relevant year round.
Also just wanted to chime in with another call for volunteers, cash and blood donations for the Red Cross and other reputable charities.
