In what may be the creepiest recall of all time, Mazda is recalling 42,000 vehicles due to the possibility of spider infestations.
The recall affects 2010-2012 Mazda6 sedans that are equipped with the 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine.
Gasoline-loving yellow sac spiders can weave a web inside a vent hose connected to the fuel tank, which can cause excessive negative pressure inside the gas tank. This can put stress on the fuel tank, which may crack and leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire, a report filed with NHTSA says.
