First things first, do not confuse this with the Raptor. That is a specific truck specification made for ultimate off-road performance. The Tremor is available in a SuperCrew cab model with the five-and-a-half-foot box with the 5.0-liter V8 and four-wheel drive.

Cab and bed construction for the F-150 are made with military grade aluminum, assembled onto a heavy-duty steel frame. Exterior design is dictated by a large grille flanked by LED headlamp units. The doors open wide, and the box is strong enough to tackle big jobs.

Our Tremor tester had bronze accents from the grille onto the badging on the side. A set of 18-inch alloy wheels finished in black matte. They wear a set of 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires. Our tester had the 2 kW Pro Power Onboard electrical system inside the bed delivers power to tools on the job or for light appliances during tailgates on the weekends.

Step inside and you are greeted with a 12-inch digital instrument binnacle that is highly customizable and very easy to read. Controls are now easier to reach and good to the touch – from the steering wheel to the controls below the instrument panel’s beltline.

The center stack is centered on a large 12-inch touchscreen driven by Ford’s SYNC 4 infotainment system. On each side of the center column are a pair of front bucket seats with a substantial center console. The big feature was the retractable shifter, where you can have it activated by a press of a button. If you don’t need it, you can lower it down into its own housing.

The front seats offer plenty of support and bolstering, along with solid comfort. Rear seat room is among the best in its class with exceptional space for three adults.

Underneath the hood is Ford’s venerable 400-horsepower 5.0-liter V8 engine. This motor puts down 410 pound-feet of torque. It is connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system. The F-150 Tremor a maximum towing capacity of up to 13,000 pounds with a payload rating of 2,135 pounds.

In terms of fuel economy, we averaged 16.6 MPG.

By selecting the Tremor, you get the added bonus of a specifically engineered monotube shocks both front and rear. The result is a smooth ride of the F-150 Tremor. It absorbs over rougher parts of the road and keeps the pickup truck balanced when it needs be. As far as handling is concerned, the F-150 feels confident in evasive maneuvers. You might find some roll and lean on occasion when the pickup truck hits a limit on banked corners.

F-150 gets a large steering wheel that is grippy to your hands. However, this system delivers a tighter-than-usual radius that makes the F-150 – and its 33-inch tires - quite maneuverable. On-center feel offered up nominal looseness at the wheel. Brakes are good, with solid pedal feel. There seemed to be an improvement over previous generations in terms of stopping power and control. We found the brakes to stop well in normal and panic situations.

The 2023 Ford F-150 lineup starts with a base price of $33,695. Customers have a choice of six trim levels, three cabs, three bed lengths, seven engines – including the PowerStroke hybrid - and two final drivelines. Our Tremor in the SuperCrew, a five-and-a-half foot bed, four-wheel-drive, and other options came with a sticker price of $74,040.

The Ford F-150 Tremor belongs in a popular segment highlighting sporty off-road capable pickup trucks that are designed for play with a nod for work. It directly goes up against the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the Trail Boss package, GMC Sierra 1500 AT4, Ram 1500 Rebel, Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, and Nissan Titan Pro4-X.
