It starts with a design that is upright, mature, useful, and sporting a clean look overall. The updated front end now features mid-height headlamps, LED driving lamps/turn signals above them, and a very prominent chromed V-Motion grille now with horizontal slats. The rear end is modern with sleek taillamp units. Our SV tester added a set of handsome 18-inch alloy wheels to the overall look.

Stepping inside the Rogue’s interior, you have an instrument cluster that features two larger analog dials with a wide digital information screen in the middle. All information and dials are easy to read. The flat-bottom steering wheel features modern and tactile controls that are easy to the touch. The transmission is controlled by a sliding shift-by-wire actuator that is logical and good to the touch to use.

We found the cloth seating of our SV tester offered superb comfort, support, and bolstering. We also found the back seats equally comfortable with superb head and leg room. Cargo space starts with 36.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats. Folding down those seatbacks will give you up to 74.1 cubic feet of expanded cargo space.

Powering the Rogue is a 201-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder with Nissan’s variable compression technology. It also puts down 225 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired to a continuously variable transmission with Nissan’s Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive.

The power delivery is very smooth and quiet. We also found that it does lane changes and on-ramp entrances extremely well. While this VC-turbo engine punches above its weight, we also found it efficient. We observed an average of 30.3 MPG in our care.

The driving experience was exactly what we want in an SUV of its size class. It rode very smoothly, while the suspension absorbed road imperfections easily. In terms of handling, the Rogue took on the curves with confidence. Evasive maneuvers were quick and responsive.

The steering system offered a tighter turning radius with ease. On-center feel is solid and confident. We liked the feel of the brake pedal. It lent itself to strong stopping performance in normal and panic situations. It also helps to have Nissan’s excellent driver assistance systems, including the features from the standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 system. Not to mention the availability of Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist and its enhanced driving experience.

The 2024 Nissan Rogue lineup starts at $28,250 with four trim levels, along front- or all-wheel drive to choose from. Our Rogue SV AWD tester came with a sticker price of $33,430.
