Luxury SUVs have been popular for quite some time. They offer a combination of comfort, individual style, advanced technology and engineering. You will also find a number of models offering electrified drivelines attracting well-heeled consumers looking to decrease their carbon footprint. One such vehicle is the Lincoln Corsair. As part of an all-SUV lineup, the Corsair is the smallest and most attainable model. It also offers a plug-in hybrid driveline that adds more interest to this model.
We recently welcomed a 2025 Corsair Grand Touring and its plug-in hybrid driveline. Our curiosity lead us to consider whether this is the model to get when you’re looking for an electrified luxury SUV.
The Lincoln Corsair is based off of the same compact SUV platform that is shared with the Ford Escape, Bronco Sport, and Maverick. It offers loads of style from its large bold grille to its subtle horizontal taillights out back. The roofline is formal with plenty of glass for good vision throughout. Below the beltline is a sculpted body with Lincoln-specific design details.
Our Grand Touring tester adds 20-inch dark finished alloy wheels to this handsome package. That dark finish is found on the grille and several pieces of trim throughout the exterior. All of which comes with the Jet Appearance Package.
Inside the Lincoln Corsair is a simpler cockpit than the ones found on the latest Nautilus and Navigator. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is customizable to your style. The center stack is crowned by a 13.2-inch infotainment screen where can mirror your smartphone device wirelessly. Underneath the center screen is the ignition button, along with the transmission “keys” – as in piano keys. Every control is easy to use, including the toggle-type actuators on the steering wheel.
Adding to the luxury is a pair of Perfect Position 24-way front seats adorned in gray leather. The controls are on the doors. Space up front is very good for many bodies. Rear seat room is fine for two adults or three children. Cargo space starts with a 27.0 cubic feet area behind the rear seats. When you fold down the rear seatbacks, it expands to 56.2 cubic feet with the hybrid battery underneath the cargo floor.
Our Grand Touring tester’s plug-in hybrid driveline consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, a continuously variable transmission, and all-wheel drive. In all, this system puts down 266 net combined horsepower.
Both the gasoline engine and the electric motor combine towards solid acceleration and smooth cruising. Blue Cruise is available on the Lincoln Corsair providing hands-free driver assistance on key highways. When the battery is full, it can return 27 miles of range. We observed a fuel economy average of 40.3 MPG.
The ride quality is very good. A smooth and comfortable ride that absorbs rougher surfaces quite well. Handling is controlled and maneuvers were executed with ease.
On-center feel for the steering system was quite good. The turning radius was just right. Expect maneuverability to be about average for the segment. Brake pedal feel was solid with good response to the wheels. The Corsair turned in solid stops during normal and panic situations.
There are now six trim levels available on the 2025 Lincoln Corsair. Pricing starts at $39,735. Our Grand Touring tester with the Jet Appearance Package came with a sticker price of $68,820.
There are many contenders in the luxury compact SUV segment which Lincoln consumers may be swayed by. That includes electrified models, as well. Those contenders include the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, Cadillac XT4 and Optiq, Genesis GV70, Lexus NX, Infiniti QX50, Acura RDX, Alfa Romeo Tonale and Stelvio, and Volvo XC60.
It is among a strong group of contenders. Where the Lincoln stands out is how much it stays true to its brand tenets. If you love Lincolns, this would be the right small SUV for you. In particular, the Grand Touring PHEV model. For everyone else, it is worth a look.
